EURUSD Session Review, September 24, 2026: Digestion Won the Day
EURUSD delivered the post-trend digestion expected on September 24, closing 0.5 pip below its open after a 40-pip two-sided range. Mixed US data forced several tests below 1.13698, but no directional trigger completed. The next preparation should keep the displacement and retest filter that rejected those failed breaks.

The tape
- Open, first hour
EURUSD opened at 1.13747 and traded up to 1.13866 before closing the first H1 candle at 1.13808. Price remained close to the 1.13835 reference. There was no immediate break of the preparation's decision range.
- Mid-session
London held completed H1 closes above 1.13698 and lifted EURUSD to the session high of 1.13987. That move never threatened 1.14289. Initial jobless claims at 12:30 UTC printed 197,000 against 189,000 expected, then new home sales at 14:00 UTC printed 0.684 million against 0.584 million expected. Price turned lower through those windows. The 14:00 H1 candle closed at 1.13679, only 1.9 pips below decision support and well short of the required 6-pip displacement. It recovered above the level in the next hour. A later drop reached 1.13587, but that hour also closed back at 1.13733.
- Late / close
Two more late probes tested both sides of the range. Price reached 1.13913 during the 19:00 hour, then fell to 1.13590 during the 21:00 hour before recovering again. EURUSD closed at 1.13742, 4.4 pips above 1.13698 and 0.5 pip below the daily open. The close left the weekly correction intact, but it did not confirm another downside leg.
What we learned
The session unfolded within the expected parameters. No material surprises. The US data produced more lower-edge pressure than the quiet opening suggested, but the preparation had already isolated both release windows and required confirmation beyond 1.13698. That filter handled the extra volatility without changing the session call.
- Day-type precondition checks
Keep prior-day expansion plus sub-35-pip H4 activity as explicit evidence for a digestion call. The 40-pip session reached about 82% of the preparation's D1 ATR and still closed flat.
- Driver-stack ordering
Keep session mechanics ahead of tentative dollar-flow evidence when scheduled US releases point in different directions. The prints moved price, but neither produced a durable rates-driven break.
- Tradability standard
Preserve the 6-pip H1 displacement and failed-retest requirement below 1.13698. A plain close below support would have fired on a move that reversed one hour later.
- Day-type precondition checks
Treat repeated H1 recovery above 1.13698 as evidence that post-trend balance remains active until a close and retest prove otherwise. Intraday lows alone did not change the regime. Reviewed prep: 2026-09-24-eurusd-session-preparation
