The day’s baseline assessment, kept as published.

Market data as of

S&P 500 Daily Regime, 27 October 2026

Regime: Corrective bearish structure on W1 and D1, with a short-term rebound underway but not yet strong enough to reverse the broader decline.

Reference: 7682.27, from the completed M5 candle closed at 23:00 UTC on 26 October.

Structure

Observation: W1 has fallen for two consecutive completed weeks after the 7845.02 high. The latest weekly candle closed at 7632.83, near its 7610.13 low and below the preceding week's 7657.87 close. That leaves weekly momentum pointed lower inside the wider 7507.02 to 7845.02 range.

Observation: D1 has formed lower highs since 7845.02, first at 7839.17, then 7771.61, and most recently 7703.62. The 26 October session recovered from 7616.01 to close at 7678.07, but it remained below 7703.62 and below the 7711.11 to 7731.32 area that preceded the latest selloff.

Inference: The daily rebound looks corrective while price stays below 7703.62 and especially below 7731.32. A sustained recovery through 7731.32 would weaken the bearish sequence and expose 7759.56 to 7771.61. Failure beneath 7703.62 keeps pressure directed back toward 7639, 7616.01, and 7610.13.

H4 and H1 condition

Observation: H4 recovered from the 7616.01 session low and produced a strong 14:00 UTC candle from 7653.62 to 7684.99, reaching 7703.62. The following H4 candle rejected that high and closed at 7678.07. This confirms demand from the 7610 to 7625 region, but also confirms supply around 7699 to 7704.

Observation: H1 broke above the earlier intraday ceiling at 7668.12, rallied to 7703.62, and then pulled back to 7677.62. Subsequent trade held above 7667.12, while attempts above 7691.87 failed. The final completed H1 opened at 7681.46, reached 7686.27, and closed at 7682.27.

Inference: H1 is consolidating after an already-fired bullish intraday break, rather than beginning a fresh breakout. Holding 7667.12 to 7670.12 preserves the rebound structure. Acceptance below that band would shift attention to 7653.12, then 7639.87 and 7625.87. Buyers still need a close above 7703.62 before the recovery can challenge the daily bearish structure.

Latest M5 developments

Observation: During the final completed H1, M5 rose from 7680.52 to 7686.27, then eased back and closed at 7682.27. The last 40 minutes stayed within 7681.52 to 7685.52, showing compression rather than follow-through. No completed M5 candle exists after the 23:00 UTC H1 close, so there is no later trigger to assess.

Inference: The earlier upside trigger through 7668 has already fired and reached 7703.62. It should now be judged by whether price can defend 7667 to 7670 and make another attempt at 7692 to 7704. The rejection from 7703.62 means continuation isn't confirmed.

Levels and scenarios

  • Bullish continuation: Holding 7667.12 to 7670.12, followed by acceptance above 7691.87, would reopen 7703.62. A close above 7703.62 would expose 7711.11 to 7731.32, then 7759.56 to 7771.61.

  • Range: Trade between 7667.12 and 7703.62 would keep the rebound intact but unresolved. The 7680 to 7686 area is the immediate balance zone.

  • Bearish resumption: Acceptance below 7667.12 would weaken the H1 recovery and expose 7653.12, 7639.87, then 7625.87. Below that, 7616.01 and 7610.13 are the major daily and weekly support tests. A close below 7610.13 would confirm another lower low in the daily decline.

Event risk, 27 October

  • 12:30 UTC: Durable Goods Orders m/m, high importance.

  • 14:00 UTC: New Home Sales and CB Consumer Confidence Index, both high importance.

These releases fall near the period that produced the prior session's strongest H1 expansion. Price may remain compressed beforehand, with 7667.12 and 7703.62 defining the nearest directional boundaries.

Session Card

Day type: range | Lean: neutral, conditional upside while 7667.12 holds | Lead scenario: contained rotation, 45% | Key invalidation: 7667.12 | Reference: 7682.39, M5, closed 2026-10-26 23:30 UTC

What changed

After the latest completed H1 closed at 7682.27, M5 sold from 7682.39 to 7668.27, tested the lower edge of the 7667.12 to 7670.12 support band, then recovered to 7682.39 by the cutoff. The support test has already happened. It held by 1.15 points, so the earlier bullish break through 7668 remains intact, but the narrow margin makes another blind support buy unattractive.

The rebound still lacks acceptance above 7691.87. Monday's push already reached 7703.62 and was rejected, leaving Asia between tested support and nearby supply. This favors rotation unless price closes beyond one of those boundaries.

The selected September cases warn against giving an overnight move too much directional weight. The 23 September comparison also compressed before resolving lower, while 18 September reversed an early rise and later recovered. Those were full daily sessions with different cash-session drivers, so they don't establish an Asia base rate. Their useful lesson here is narrower: require a held close and retest instead of treating the first boundary touch as continuation.

Key Levels

  • 7703.62: Rejected D1 and H1 high. This is the first structural upside objective after 7691.87 acceptance.
  • 7691.87: Latest H1 recovery high and the upside trigger. A touch isn't enough after the prior rejection.
  • 7683.77: Latest completed M5 recovery high. Holding above it would support another test of 7691.87.
  • 7682.27: Latest completed H1 close and immediate balance pivot.
  • 7670.12 to 7667.12: H1 support band. M5 has already tested it, reaching 7668.27 before recovering.
  • 7653.12-7653.62 target zone: H4 impulse origin and H1 low, grouped as one objective under the 4.03 point maximum gap policy.
  • 7639.87: Next distinct downside objective if the 7653.12-7653.62 zone fails.

Session Map

  • 00:00 to 01:00 UTC: Let the Asia opening range form. The pre-window support test and recovery are context, not an execution signal for this preparation.
  • 01:00 to 05:00 UTC: Trade only a confirmed break and retest of 7691.87 or 7667.12. Inside those boundaries, expect rotation around 7682.27.
  • 05:00 to 08:00 UTC: Demand follow-through before the window ends. A late boundary break without a retest has poor room for confirmation inside this phase.

No scheduled high-importance USD event falls inside the Asia window. The listed US releases occur after 08:00 UTC and don't provide an Asia trigger.

No-Trade Conditions

  • No entry while M5 repeatedly crosses 7682.27 without expanding beyond 7667.12 to 7691.87.
  • Don't buy the already-completed rebound from 7668.27 unless 7691.87 breaks and holds.
  • Don't sell an isolated dip below 7670.12 while completed M5 candles remain above 7667.12.
  • Stand aside if a boundary is swept and the next completed M5 candle closes back inside the range.
  • Avoid a new position when the nearest structural target leaves insufficient room before the opposing level.

What to Watch — Invalidation

A confirmed M5 loss of 7667.12 invalidates the Asia upside lean and shifts attention to the 7653.12-7653.62 target zone. It doesn't change the accepted daily regime by itself. Conversely, acceptance above 7703.62 would weaken the immediate rejection structure, but the broader corrective bearish regime remains in force unless price also sustains a recovery through 7731.32.

Historical review excerpt: “SP500 opened September 23, 2026 at 7,767.60 and closed at 7,709.85 after trading from 7,780.65 to 7,696.65. The 57.75-point decline and close near the low made this a bearish Trend day. The preparation got the day type and conditional short right, but its 38% upside branch ranked just above the 35% cash-open rejection branch that actually fired.” Lesson from that review: “The session produced no material price-path surprise. The downside branch described the trigger sequence, the first target, and the failed recovery. The only low-grade surprise was timing: the 14:30 to 15:30 UTC opening hour started the rejection, but the held break arrived at 16:00 UTC. That delay was still inside the preparation's 15:30 to 19:00 follow-through window, so it doesn't count as a ma” Whole-day preparation; original publication cutoff unverified.

Differences: dynamics: current compression + pullback, historical unknown; event risk: current normal, historical unknown; ATR: current 1.050173%, historical unknown. Historical review assessment: partial (the journal’s assessment). Historical review excerpt: “SP500 finished September 18, 2026 at 7,658.39, up 21.25 points from its 7,637.14 open, but the result hid a full cash-session reversal and a late recovery. The long lean got the close direction right. The Trend call and 39% direct-continuation lead did not describe the day, which broke lower after the US cash open before reclaiming the main acceptance line late.” Lesson from that review: “The first leg of the cash-open reversal was not a surprise. The preparation named that risk and placed the downside levels correctly. The moderate surprise was the late rebound, which erased the downside break and reclaimed 7,654.88 before the D1 close. That outcome was foreseeable as a whipsaw branch because the prep lacked fresh confirmation from rates or mega-cap leadership and followed a 1.43x” Whole-day preparation; original publication cutoff unverified.
