XAUUSD Daily Regime, 4 November 2026
Regime: Bearish higher-timeframe trend, with a corrective rebound now stalling below broken support. The reference is 3929.99 from the M5 close at 22:00 UTC on 3 November.
W1 and D1 structure
Observation: Weekly structure is bearish. The completed weeks show lower highs from 4696.66 and successive downside expansion. The week ending 31 October broke the prior weekly low at 3975.59, traded to 3869.99 and closed near that low at 3875.28. The former 3975 to 3995 support region has therefore already failed and now sits overhead.
Daily price rebounded from 3878.97 on 2 November and closed at 3946.36. On 3 November it marginally exceeded the previous day's high, reaching 3970.92, but rejected the move and closed at 3929.99. That left a bearish daily response beneath 3975 and well below the late October breakdown area around 4005 to 4026.
Inference: The rebound from 3869.99 looks corrective while price remains below 3970.92 to 3995.32. A sustained recovery through that band would weaken the immediate bearish pressure, but it wouldn't repair the broader weekly structure by itself.
H4 and H1 condition
Observation: H4 recovered from 3878.97 to 3970.92, then reversed. The final two completed H4 candles closed at 3932.62 and 3929.99, leaving price below the rebound peak and beneath the 3942.79 to 3951.21 congestion area.
H1 shows the full intraday sequence: a decline from 3964.34 to 3895.32, a sharp recovery to 3970.92, then another selloff. After the 13:00 UTC impulse peaked, hourly closes fell through 3944.33, 3936.26 and 3927.70. The final hour recovered from 3919.87 to close at 3929.99, but it didn't reclaim 3935.02 or the earlier 3944 to 3951 supply.
Inference: H4 and H1 remain corrective and unstable inside a wider bearish regime. Buyers defended the 3895 to 3917 area, but the failed push through 3970.92 and the subsequent lower hourly closes keep sellers in control above 3935.
Latest M5 developments
Observation: The afternoon rally accelerated from 3929.79 at 13:25 UTC and reached 3970.92 by 13:50 UTC. That upside trigger has already fired and failed. Price then sold to 3922.94 by 15:30 UTC, recovered only to 3938.37, and later revisited 3917.36 during the 20:00 UTC candle.
The final completed M5 sequence recovered from 3919.87 after 21:00 UTC, broke back above 3925 and reached 3930.47 before closing at 3929.99. This was a short-term recovery into the close, not a confirmed reversal of the H1 downswing. No completed M5 candles were supplied after the latest H1 close at 22:00 UTC, so there is no post-close trigger to assess.
Levels and remaining scenarios
- Immediate resistance: 3930.47 to 3935.02, followed by 3944.33 to 3951.21.
- Major rebound resistance: 3962.39 to 3970.92. Above that, the already-broken 3975.59 to 3995.32 region is the next test.
- Immediate support: 3919.87 to 3917.36.
- Lower support: 3898.93 to 3895.32, then 3878.97 to 3869.99.
- Bearish continuation: A fresh loss of 3917.36 would expose the defended 3895.32 low. Acceptance below 3895.32 would put the 3878.97 and 3869.99 lows back under pressure.
- Recovery: Holding above 3917.36 and reclaiming 3935.02 would allow another test of 3944.33 to 3951.21. The recovery case becomes more credible only above 3970.92, with 3975.59 to 3995.32 likely to decide whether the move is more than a correction.
Event risk
High-impact USD events on 4 November are ADP Nonfarm Employment Change at 13:15 UTC, ISM Non-Manufacturing PMI and ISM Non-Manufacturing Prices Paid at 15:00 UTC, and EIA Crude Oil Stocks Change at 15:30 UTC. The first three have direct potential to move the dollar and gold sharply. JOLTS Job Openings at 15:00 UTC on 3 November had already passed before the data cutoff and isn't an upcoming risk.

Session Card
Day type: range | Lean: bearish below 3935.02 | Lead scenario: resistance rejection, 45% | Key invalidation: 3935.02 | Reference: 3930.37, M5 close at 2026-11-03 23:30 UTC
What changed
Six completed M5 candles followed the latest H1 close. Price tested 3933.54 to 3934.14, fell to 3927.41 and settled at 3930.37. That pre-opening test is context, not an execution of this preparation. It stopped short of 3935.02, so buyers still haven't reclaimed the resistance capping the late recovery.
The rebound from 3919.87 remains intact, but it has produced little progress above the prior 3930.47 high. Neither 3917.36 nor 3895.32 was retested after the H1 close. The immediate picture is compression between resistance at 3935.02 and support at 3917.36 to 3919.87, inside the accepted bearish regime.
The selected range cases warn against treating the first support break as durable. On 26 and 27 October, bearish paths failed or stopped after limited progress, while the 28 October bearish path completed only as context, not an executable entry. Those reviews don't establish a base rate. They do support demanding a bounded retest and respecting the nearest opposition rather than chasing the preferred direction.
Scenario Map
| Scenario | Weight | Trigger | Path & target | Invalidation |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Resistance rejection | 45% | After 00:00 UTC and once this preparation is public, require a fresh trade into 3933.54-3935.02. Within the next 2 M5 bars, require 1 close at or below 3930.47. Within the following 2 M5 bars, price must retest 3930.47-3932.62, remain below 3933.54 and produce another close at or below 3930.47. This requires 2 confirming M5 closes. Entry: 3929.50-3930.47 after the failed reclaim. Expiry: 07:30 UTC. | First opposition: 3917.36-3919.87 target zone, combining the repeated H4 low and late-session M5 low. | Scenario invalidation: completed M5 close above 3935.02 after confirmation. Structural stop: 3935.80, beyond the H4 cap and rejection structure. |
| Support breakdown | 30% | Require 1 completed M5 close below 3917.36. Within the next 3 M5 bars, price must retest 3917.36-3919.87, never trade above 3920.89 and close at or below 3917.36. This requires 2 confirming M5 closes. Entry: 3915.50-3917.36 after the failed reclaim. Expiry: 07:30 UTC. | First opposition: 3895.32-3898.93 target zone, grouping the defended H1 and H4 lows within the supplied 3.65-point tolerance. | Scenario invalidation: completed M5 close above 3919.87 after confirmation. Structural stop: 3921.80, above the support zone and the 3920.89 pre-break shelf. |
| Corrective recovery | 25% | Require 1 completed M5 close above 3935.02. Within the next 3 M5 bars, price must retest 3933.54-3935.02, never trade below 3932.62 and close at or above 3935.02. This requires 2 confirming M5 closes. Entry: 3935.02-3936.20 after the held retest. Expiry: 07:30 UTC. | First opposition: 3944.33, the first lower hourly close after the 3970.92 rejection. If 3944.33 becomes support, 3951.21 is the next separate objective. | Scenario invalidation: completed M5 close below 3932.62 after confirmation. Structural stop: 3931.80, below the retest floor and breakout shelf. |
Key Levels
- 3944.33: first structural opposition above a confirmed recovery.
- 3935.02: H4 and H1 resistance, plus the numeric invalidation of the bearish lean.
- 3933.54-3934.14: pre-opening highs. This area has been tested, but 3935.02 remains unreclaimed.
- 3930.47: prior M5 high and the failed-reclaim threshold for a resistance rejection.
- 3917.36-3919.87: immediate support and first downside target zone.
- 3895.32-3898.93: defended lower support and the breakdown target zone.
Session Map
- 00:00 UTC: Asia phase begins with the Tokyo cash open at 09:00 Japan Standard Time. Require fresh post-opening confirmation because the move to 3934.14 occurred beforehand.
- 01:30 UTC: Hong Kong and Shanghai cash markets open at 09:30 local time. Opening breaks still need their stated close and bounded retest.
- 02:00 to 05:00 UTC: Main follow-through window. Favor rejection while 3935.02 caps completed M5 closes.
- 05:00 to 08:00 UTC: Late phase. Pass confirmations outside their entry budgets and let every candidate expire no later than its stated boundary.
No scheduled event in the packet falls inside the Asia window.
No-Trade Conditions
Do not sell merely because price revisits the pre-opening highs. The rejection branch needs both confirming closes and its bounded failed reclaim. Do not sell the first close below 3917.36, and don't buy a wick through 3935.02.
For the rejection entry, the worst permitted short price of 3929.50 leaves 9.63 points to the upper edge of first opposition at 3919.87, against 6.30 points to the 3935.80 stop. The breakdown entry at 3915.50 leaves 16.57 points to 3898.93, against 6.30 points to the 3921.80 stop. The recovery entry at 3936.20 leaves 8.13 points to 3944.33, against 4.40 points to the 3931.80 stop. Spread, commission and slippage are unknown and reduce that room.
Stand aside if price repeatedly crosses 3930.47 without completing a retest, if confirmation arrives after its bar limit, or if the first opposition trades before entry. A trigger outside its entry budget is passed. A decisive reclaim cancels that candidate; a later break starts a new one.
What to Watch — Invalidation
A completed M5 recovery above 3935.02 followed by the specified held retest invalidates the immediate bearish lean and opens 3944.33. Failure there would leave the rebound corrective. Holding above 3951.21 would weaken immediate seller control, but it wouldn't by itself change the accepted daily regime.
Below price, 3917.36 must break and reject a bounded reclaim before 3895.32-3898.93 becomes actionable. A quick recovery above 3919.87 cancels that breakdown candidate and keeps the Asia range intact.
