S&P 500 Daily Regime, 5 November 2026
Regime: Weekly correction, daily reversal attempt, intraday recovery holding near resistance.
The completed weekly structure remains corrective. After the 7 October peak at 7845.02, weekly closes fell from 7815.25 to 7657.87, 7632.83 and 7580.52. Lower weekly highs at 7839.17 and 7785.07 reinforce that loss of momentum. The 7525.82 low from the week ended 31 October is the first completed weekly support. The broader range floor sits at 7507.02, with 7845.02 still the structural ceiling.
Daily price action improved sharply on 4 November. Price first extended the decline through 7516.97 and 7507.02 to 7461.89, then reversed to close at 7706.39. That bullish close reclaimed 7525.82, the 7556.51 and 7578.44 prior closes, 7632.83, and 7678.63. This is observed rejection of the breakdown, not yet proof that the weekly correction has ended. The close remains below the late October swing high at 7785.07 and the October peak at 7845.02.
H4 shows a strong recovery sequence from 7461.89. Successive completed candles closed at 7539.64, 7620.19, 7659.19 and 7713.44 before the final candle eased to 7706.39. The last H4 candle reached 7718.19 but couldn't extend through the 7716.69 to 7737.82 resistance area. H1 tells the same story: a clear series of higher closes from the overnight low, followed by consolidation between 7684.94 and 7718.19 late in the session.
The reference price is 7706.39, from the completed M5 candle closed at 22:00 UTC on 4 November. The latest completed H1 candle also closed at 22:00 UTC, so there are no later completed M5 developments to reassess. Within that final hour, M5 recovered from 7693.40, reached 7707.64, and then compressed around 7705 to 7707 into the close. The earlier break through 7525.82 and 7507.02 has already happened, as has the subsequent reclaim. Those are observed developments, not pending downside triggers.
Levels that matter
- 7718.19: Immediate intraday high and first resistance.
- 7737.82 to 7758.79: Prior H4 and daily supply area. Acceptance above it would strengthen the reversal inference.
- 7785.07: Late October swing high and the next daily structure test.
- 7839.17 to 7845.02: Major weekly resistance and October peak.
- 7693.40 to 7684.94: Final hour and final H4 support. Holding this area keeps the immediate recovery intact.
- 7659.50 to 7632.83: Intraday breakout base and reclaimed weekly close. A return below this zone would weaken the reversal.
- 7578.44 to 7556.51: Prior daily closes and secondary support.
- 7525.82 to 7507.02: Reclaimed weekly support band.
- 7461.89: Reversal low. A completed break below it would resume the larger correction and invalidate the current daily recovery attempt.
The working inference is neutral to cautiously bullish above 7684.94, but still corrective on the weekly chart while price remains below 7785.07. Continuation through 7718.19 would expose 7737.82, then 7758.79. Failure to hold 7684.94 would put 7659.50 and 7632.83 back under pressure.
The scheduled risk is Initial Jobless Claims on 5 November at 13:30 UTC, rated high importance for USD. The 4 November ADP, services PMI, ISM and crude oil events all occurred before the data cutoff and are already reflected in the supplied price action.

Session Card
Day type: range | Lean: cautiously bullish above 7684.94 | Lead scenario: support hold and resistance retest, 40% | Key invalidation: 7684.94 | Reference: 7702.34, M5 close at 2026-11-04 23:30 UTC
What changed
Since the latest completed H1 close at 22:00 UTC, M5 price traded between 7700.46 and 7709.46, then closed at 7702.34. That is a mild fade from the 7706.39 H1 close, not a break of support. The move stayed above 7693.40 and did not retest the 7684.94 H4 low.
The recovery from 7461.89 therefore remains intact, but momentum has stalled beneath 7718.19. That resistance was tested earlier and rejected, while the post-H1 candles have neither challenged it again nor damaged the immediate support structure. Asia opens with price compressed between 7693.40 and 7718.19 after an unusually large daily reversal.
The selected 4 November case is the main warning against assuming a quiet range: a similar range call became a 121.62 point downside trap and reversal. The 29 October case also showed that an initial move can complete and then reverse hard enough to invalidate the lean. The 28 October review reinforces a separate execution rule: confirmation outside the entry budget is passed, even if price later returns. These cases support strict confirmation and room checks, not numerical weight changes.
Scenario Map
| Scenario | Weight | Trigger | Path & target | Invalidation |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Support holds, resistance retested | 40% | Price must trade into 7684.94-7693.40, then produce one M5 close above 7693.40. Within the next two M5 bars, 7693.40 must be retested within 7688.20-7698.60 and hold through an M5 close at or above 7693.40. Entry: 7693.40-7697.50 after that holding close. Expiry: 07:15 UTC. | First opposition: 7718.19, the completed intraday high. From the worst permitted long entry at 7697.50, there are 20.69 points to opposition against 13.75 points to the stop. Spread and slippage are unknown and excluded. | Scenario close invalidation: an M5 close below 7688.20 after confirmation. Structural stop: 7683.75, below the 7684.94 H4 support low. |
| Acceptance above 7718.19 | 35% | Two consecutive M5 closes above 7718.19. Within the next two M5 bars, price must retest 7718.19 within 7712.99-7723.39 and hold with an M5 close at or above 7718.19. Entry: 7718.25-7722.00 after that holding close. Expiry: 07:15 UTC. | First opposition: 7737.82-7740.88 target zone, grouping the prior H4 high and nearby daily high within the supplied 5.20 point limit. From the worst permitted long entry at 7722.00, the zone begins 15.82 points away against 10.25 points to the stop. Spread and slippage are unknown and excluded. | Scenario close invalidation: an M5 close below 7712.99 after confirmation. Structural stop: 7711.75, below the retest tolerance and breakout support area. |
| Immediate support fails | 25% | Two consecutive M5 closes below 7684.94. Within the next two M5 bars, price must retest 7684.94 within 7679.74-7690.14 and fail with an M5 close below 7684.94. Entry: 7680.00-7684.75 after that failed-reclaim close. Expiry: 07:15 UTC. | First opposition: 7659.19-7659.50 target zone, grouping the completed H4 recovery close and intraday breakout low within the supplied 5.20 point limit. From the worst permitted short entry at 7680.00, the zone begins 20.50 points away against 13.75 points to the stop. Spread and slippage are unknown and excluded. | Scenario close invalidation: an M5 close above 7690.14 after confirmation. Structural stop: 7693.75, above the failed-reclaim area and 7693.40 final-hour support. A decisive reclaim above 7690.14 cancels the candidate. |
Key Levels
- 7737.82-7740.88: First target zone after confirmed acceptance above 7718.19, formed by nearby prior H4 and daily highs.
- 7718.19: Immediate resistance and the upside acceptance threshold.
- 7700.46: Lowest completed M5 price since the latest H1 close.
- 7693.40: Final-hour support and the reclaim threshold for the lead scenario.
- 7684.94: H4 support and numeric invalidation for the cautious bullish phase lean.
- 7659.19-7659.50: First downside target zone after confirmed failure of 7684.94.
- 7632.83: Reclaimed weekly close and the next separate downside structure if the 7659.19-7659.50 zone fails.
Session Map
- 00:00 to 01:30 UTC: Tokyo cash trading opens at 09:00 Japan Standard Time. Let the opening test form. The drift to 7700.46 occurred before the phase and is context only.
- 01:30 to 05:00 UTC: Hong Kong and Shanghai cash markets open at 09:30 local time. Act only after a complete close sequence and bounded retest at 7693.40, 7718.19 or 7684.94.
- 05:00 to 07:15 UTC: Require prompt confirmation. Pass any candidate that confirms outside its entry area or reaches first opposition before an entry becomes available.
- 07:15 to 08:00 UTC: No new entries. Every candidate expires by the 08:00 UTC phase boundary.
No listed high-importance event falls inside the Asia window. Only M5 candles completed after both the phase opening and public availability can activate a branch.
No-Trade Conditions
- No entry while price rotates between 7693.40 and 7718.19 without completing a stated confirmation and retest.
- Do not chase the completed recovery from 7461.89 or treat the earlier reclaim of 7684.94 as a new trigger.
- Pass a confirmation that closes outside its entry budget. A later return requires a new candidate.
- Do not enter if first opposition has already traded after confirmation, or if fewer than two M5 bars remain before expiry.
- Stand aside during repeated crossings of the relevant retest threshold. That is rotation, not a confirmed hold or failed reclaim.
- Unknown spread and slippage must be checked before entry. If they materially reduce the stated room, pass.
What to Watch — Invalidation
An M5 close below 7684.94 invalidates the cautious bullish Asia lean, but a short still requires the separate two-close and bounded failed-reclaim sequence. Acceptance above 7718.19 instead opens the 7737.82-7740.88 target zone, with 7758.79 beyond it as separate resistance. Neither Asia outcome changes the accepted daily regime by itself. The daily reversal attempt remains structurally invalid only below 7461.89.

Historical review excerpt: “Asia produced a downside trap, not the prepared range. The phase opened at 7574.01, fell through 7558.24, 7516.97 and 7507.02 to 7461.89, then recovered to close at 7562.19. The 121.62 point span was a major surprise, although the bearish lean below 7610.13 was directionally correct. No scenario completed its stated trigger. The preparation outcome is therefore partial under the three-value contract: no trigger, no trade. The frozen execution replay remains unassessable for all three branches because their source rules are marked ambiguous.” Lesson from that review: “The bearish lean read the initial direction correctly, but the range call materially understated both the expansion and the reversal. The market moved more than 120 points while finishing only 11.82 points below its opening price. The late-base branch identified the relevant side of the move, but its bounded retest mattered. Price accelerated through the target zone without returning far enough to”

Differences: dynamics: current compression + rejection, historical expansion + rejection; ATR: current 1.35054%, historical 1.043084%. Historical review assessment: hit (the journal’s assessment). Historical review excerpt: “Asia produced a whipsaw rather than the prepared range. Price opened at 7720.75, rose to 7733.63, fell to 7707.13, reversed to 7740.88, then closed the phase at 7714.68. The 33.75 point span contained a completed bearish setup, a later invalidation of the bearish lean, and another reversal into the close. The 45% lead scenario hit conditionally. Its complete rejection sequence confirmed at 7719.00 on the M5 candle closed at 01:55 UTC. Price then reached the 7710.63 objective, trading to 7710.13 on the candle closed at 02:35 UTC, before any scenario invalidation. Execution remains unassessable” Lesson from that review: “The lead scenario was precise enough to capture the first completed move, but the range call understated the degree of reversal. The session moved from a valid rejection, through its downside objective, into a complete bullish invalidation sequence, then reversed again before the close. That is whipsaw behavior. The bounded retest requirements prevented loose pattern matching. Merely closing twice”
